"Sorry X Finds Out His Value, you may be alive, but it's, you're not, you're not in BFDI..."Puffball Speaker Box, "Zeeky Boogy Doog"
This article contains content that was released or created before the first episode of Battle for Dream Island.

Oh, I don't know. I just don't know what I am, what my value is.

X

"X Finds Out His Value" is an animation made by jacknjellify. The video includes the characters Four and X, who would later become hosts in BFB. It was released on December 31, 2008, an entire year before BFDI. Cary Huang made this as his first "serious" animation, intended for his pre-algebra class.

It is an algebra math learning video for kids. As of May 2023, the video has 9,668,573 (9.7 million) views.

Plot[]

Various numbers are shown playing around in a yard. The screen moves to Four, who sings a song while walking to X who is sitting in the shade of a tree. He asks what's wrong with him, seeing as he looks depressed, to which X answers that he just doesn't know what his value is. Four then tells X to go to the equation playground with him, and so he does.

When they go to the equation playground, Four puts X into an empty see-saw on one side, while putting other numbers and equations to fill in. Once Four puts in an equal amount of equation numbers on both sides, he tells X that they can now figure out his value. X then clarifies that it would be impossible because they have too many numbers to solve, to which Four tells him they can do this step-by-step using a pencil.

He puts X along with the equation of 2x making 3x, much to X surprise as he didn't know numbers that are separated can still be summed up on one side. Four then combines -3 and 8 to form 5. X then questions if the number should be 11, since he didn't know that the 3 had a negative variable. Four tells him this and then X takes the pencil to combine the five with the two to form 7, resulting in the see-saw to tilt. X then asks why did it happen, to which Four responds by stating that the 2 was connected with the equation of 3+x, stating that it was adding apples and oranges.

He then tells X that he has to multiply the two with the three and x, resulting in 6 and 2x. X then combines the five with the six to form 11, letting the see-saw balanced. Four then tells X that all he has to do is put the 2x to his side, leading him to immediately decide to add 2x with 3x, resulting the see-saw to tilt once again. Four then tells X that to switch numbers in this case, he had to switch its sign, stating that if the number is positive, it changes to negative and vice versa. He tells X to think of it as removing the the 2x on one side and doing the same on the other, to which X then turns his 3x into a simple x.

Four then tells him to do the same thing with him. X subtracts 11 with 4 and then finally finds out that his value is the number seven. Four, Seven, and X are then seen dancing while Four states that seven is also the lucky number, to which numbers One and Three (forming Thirteen) are looking disappointed (this is a joke referring to the number 13 often being affiliated with bad luck). As the credits are rolling, Four asks X what does he want to do since he already found out his value, and X mentions that he wants to celebrate by playing with numbers Five and Three, to which Four responds, "Hmm, sounds fun!".

At the end, the game Minesweeper is being played, and a mouse click spams the words "The End".

Characters[]

Trivia[]

  • The Huang twins were only 11 years old at the time of the animation's release.
  • All of the numbers with voices sound somewhat like old BFDI voices.
  • The area with the see-saws is called the Equation Playground.
  • Eight turns lifeless after being grabbed by Four.
  • The equation is .
  • X is equal to Seven.
  • The colors of the numbers are based on Minesweeper (except Five, who is based off a variant called Super Minesweeper).
  • When X accidentally added 2x and 3x together, the equation in the middle didn't change.
  • A clip from this video (showing Four, X, and Seven) appears in "Today's Very Special Episode", the fourth episode of BFB. It occurred during a modified version of this season's Cake at Stake intro.
  • Zero and Nine are the only one digit numbers that didn't appear in the video since they don't exist in Minesweeper.
    • However, they both appeared in BFB: Nine as a recommended character in some episodes, and in Jacknjellify's 800,000, 900,000, and 1,500,000 subscriber specials.
  • Thirteen and Eleven are the only two-digit numbers in the video, and since Thirteen has different colors, it might just be a group of one-digit numbers. Eleven appears as a cameo in the 2M Subs Video.
    • However, there were 3 other multiple-digit numbers, Ten, Fourteen, and One Million, which appeared as recommended characters in BFB 29, BFB 15, and BFB 27, and were actually characters of their own and not one-digit number groups.
  • The physics of levers are different in XFOHV from reality, different parts of the seesaw don't have a different effect on the amount the other side goes up.
  • According to Cary, XFOHV takes place after the events of BFB.[citation needed]
  • XFOHV probably doesn't take place in Goiky, nor does it take place in the same world.
  • Jacknjellify celebrated the video's seventh anniversary with a Vine remixing it with the 2003 rap song "X Gon' Give It to Ya".
  • XFOHV is the most viewed non-BFDI jacknjellify video as of July 2020, the only non-BFDI video out of the channel's Top 50 most viewed videos, and the channel's most viewed video from its first year, 2008.
  • In the Humany video "X Finds Out His Voice", it is revealed that Cary's unusually high pitched voice was decreased by 4 semitones, and Michael's voice was pitched higher by the exact same number of semitones.
  • Nine might've been in the video but unseen, as in Thanks for 900,000 subscribers! Nine said they heard Four saying "too heavy".
  • This video was the only appearance of Three outside of recommended characters or "The Number Playground Chronicle!"
  • ED7A7EFE-310D-4894-9B16-57C1BCF4D9AD
One and Three are credited as “13”. This may explain their abscence.

References in Battle for Dream Island[]

XFOHV has been referenced several times in the Battle for Dream Island series.

Non-canon references[]

  • In "Thanks for 600,000 subscribers!", a clip from XFOHV is shown while mentioning that jacknjellify forgot Seven for 11 years.
  • In "Lo-Fi Beats to Yoyle To", X is shown listening to music at the equation playground with Six blows bubbles like their appearance here.
  • "Thanks for 700,000 subscribers! has many "X Finds Out His Value" references:
    • Four once again sings the song he sung here while he was climbing a mountain.
    • Four mentions that he's going to the equation playground to tell Seven that Jacknjellify reached 700,000 subscribers.
    • Eight is mad at Four for calling them heavy.
  • In "Thanks for 900,000 subscribers!", Six says Eight is made of pure lead which Nine realizes is the reason Four called them too heavy.
  • In "The Official Four and X Plush", Four reminds X that in "X Finds Out His Value", they figured out that X's value was 7.
  • In "The LOST NEWSPAPERS of Four and X", Four and X remember the events of "X Finds Out His Value", the details of which were in the newspapers.
